As you may be aware, Alchemix is in the midst of developing veALCX. Part of this development will introduce a new token that has thus far had a placeholder name of MANA.

MANA (Working Name)
The largest change by far is the addition of the MANA token (name is intended to change, suggest something!). MANA brings a new dynamic to gauge voting and unlocking tokens. MANA has the following features:

  1. Every 1 veALCX of voting power is rewarded a pre-defined amount of MANA per 2 week epoch.
  2. MANA that has not yet been claimed (ie, minted) by the user may be used to boost their veALCX voting power for gauges only for one epoch. This means a user could boost their voting power to collect more bribes, or to send more rewards to a pool in which the user provides liquidity. There may be a cap on how much they can boost relative to their veALCX power.
  3. MANA that has been claimed (minted) may be burned to unlock a user’s veALCX BPT tokens early.
  4. Claimed MANA can ONLY be used for unlocking, NOT gauge voting. Claimed MANA is liquid — this means users who are content with remaining locked may sell their MANA to other users who wish to unlock their veALCX early.
  5. The emission rate and cost to take various actions with MANA is currently undetermined.
  6. The DAO may determine if and how it would like to incentivize MANA liquidity.

      MATERIA still fun but not really thematic
      FAVOR is not alchemix thematic, but it is cool as many of the things you can do with it are kinda like FAVORS

      Think about it, letting someone out of a contract early could be thought of as a favor. People can burn them to shift weights of emissions, favoring their choice. Then when you sell your $FAVOR, you are "cashing in on a favor". It's perfect

      Ester is cool, from @Bennixus :

      Instead of Mana I propose to use the name Ester for the new token.
      It fits the theme imo, here is a bit from Wikipedia: Esterification is the general name for a chemical reaction in which two reactants (typically an alcohol and an acid) form an ester as the reaction product. Esters are common in organic chemistry and biological materials, and often have a pleasant characteristic, fruity odor.

      And additionally, it's easy and quick to pronounce as well.

      Esters are often byproducts in organic reactions, similar to how the token is a byproduct of staking. It really fits the more I think about it

        ov3rkoalafied I think materia is thematic, like how alchemy is the transmutation of matter. Moreover MATERIA SHARDS for a full name is just so cool.

          On the unlocking front, it could be called BRASS since you need it to form the key to unlock your position early
