Summary

Alphaday builds crypto experience dashboards for enthusiasts, developers, and projects. Users can drag and drop from hundreds of services, news and social feeds, charts, and dapp functionality to create their daily workflows inside a single dashboard. This eliminates the need to have multiple browser tabs open to get different bits of information. i.e. imagine having token prices, gas prices, twitter feed, latest news headlines, TVL, borrowing rates and any other information any user could possibly want all within one single dashboard.

Team

My name is Deniz Omer, I’ve been involved in the Ethereum space since early 2016 and joined Kyber Network in 2017 as Head of Ecosystem Growth before quitting to start Alphaday full-time in 2021. Previously I worked at Thomson Reuters for a decade building financial products that rivaled the Bloomberg Terminal. I am currently also a Venture Partner at IOSG.VC

My co-founder Felipe has also been involved in Ethereum since 2016 and was a Developer Advocate at Pegasys and Consensys before quitting to work full time on Alphaday.

Alphaday’s third co-founder is DeFiDude who used to be a community manager at both Aave and Kyber Network before co-founding Alphaday.

Project Impact

Market research we conducted in 2021 concluded that crypto users are overwhelmed with information and spend a lot of time jumping from one news source to another, from one social site to another, and usually have dozens of tabs open to stay up to date with everything happening in a community.

Our dashboard aims to provide a single end-point from which users can consume all the information on a project they could possibly want. In this case, we would like to create a Alchemix ecosystem dashboard that aggregates the following information into a single community dashboard:

  • The latest Alchemix official announcements and blog post content
  • A feed of all news mentions of Alchemix from coindesk, cointelegraph and 20+ other news sources aggregated from across the internet
  • A calendar containing all Alchemix events including Alchemix Governance votes, meetups, hackathons with Alchemix bounties, AMAs
  • Podcast feed containing the latest appearances and interviews given by Alchemix team members
  • Youtube stream containing educational Alchemix content.
  • Alchemix Documentation
  • Integration with Alchemix Governance Forum to show the latest and trending discussion topics
  • Discord & Twitter Integration to show a feed of latest discussions
  • FAQ, Squarespace, ALCX tokenomics information
  • Alchemix Careers integration to show the latest open jobs listed on Alchemix
  • Alchemix User’s lending/borrowing positions (through Zapper integration)
  • Alchemix metrics including TVL, Total Unique Addresses and other metrics pulled in from Dune Analytics
  • A widget featuring the Alchemix roadmap with all the descriptions and links included

###Funding Request and Budget Breakdown
1,200 USD upfront costs for development including integrating the discussion forums, blog post, social feed, jobs listing, TVL and other on-chain metrics.

120 USD per month for 12 months for maintenance including having an Alphaday content analyst quality-checking the dashboard every day and ensuring the Calendar widget is up-to-date with latest Alchemix events, all news mentions across the internet are captured by the dashboard, any updates not automatically captured by the Alphaday aggregator engine is manually added to the board, and other maintenance tasks.

For a total of 2,640 USD.

Don't wanna be rude, but a) it doesn't look like this text was written for this post alone seeing how we don't do hackathons, meetups or anything like that and you still want to include those in your dashboard and b) we already have a dashboard of sorts and c) we know that developing a proper dashboard is a time consuming effort unless it's going to be a shit dashboard, which is why 2.6k seems like a super super low price, almost too low tbqh famalam. Also, renamed thread because this is an RFC if anything.

n4n0 changed the title to [RFC] Alphaday Grant Proposal to build Community Dashboard.

n4n0 thanks for the comment and let me address your sceptisim:

Our comment regarding hackathons was based on Alchemix’s participation in Gitcoin’s Money Legos and the Alchemix community is a pretty decent size so it’s not unreasonable to think at some point someone is going to host a meetup or eventbrite event that is related or sponsored by Alchemix (i've met quite a few Alchemix community members in hackathons and conferencs around the world). Our events widget would automatically capture and display this info.

You mentioned you already have a dashboard of sorts. Check out our Arbitrum board (https://app.alphaday.com/b/arbitrum/) for an idea of how we integrate podcasts, youtube, DAO discussions, twitter, roadmaps, open jobs, and dozens and dozens of other data types related to any given project. There isn’t much overlap with the dashboard you referred to.

And lastly regarding the cost, you’re right that these dashboards cost money and at $2.6k we’re subsidising the price of deployment because we believe it’s worth doing so in the short term to be able to provide such a service to DeFi and other web3 communities. We only launched 5 months ago and our MAU has gone from 500 users to 10k+ users so we know there's strong demand for community dashboards that aren't purely data focused and we'd love to be able to build such a board for Alchemix.

    Hi guys, hope you're good.

I wanted to follow up on our proposal and see if there was any other comments or feedback we could address.

    Thanks,
    Deniz

FYI - given the small cost, the multisig has elected to fund this with a portion of the $450k quarterly operational budget (no AIP needed)
